Campus Security
On November 8, 1990, President George Bush signed the “Student Right to Know & Campus Security Act of 1990″. This act applies to every institution of higher education that receives federal financial aid. Title II of the Act is called the “Campus Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990.” It requires institutions of higher education to distribute to all current students and employees, and applicants for enrollment or employment two types of information:
- Descriptions of policies related to campus security; and
- Statistics concerning specific types of crimes.
Students will be given a student handbook at orientation that describes campus security policies.
Crime statistics at NTI are available on the DOE Web site at http://ope.ed.gov/security/search.asp. Only two variables are needed:
- 1) The “Campus state” (Minnesota;) and
- 2) the “Name of institution” (Northwest Technical Institute).
Click “Search”. A page will appear with the College’s name. Click on it. Links to “Criminal Offenses”, “Hate Offenses”, and “Arrests” are found at the bottom of the page.
A paper copy is available upon request by contacting the President (See Contact Information).
