I am looking to start a career as a drafter using either AutoCad® or Revit®. I have taken a carpentry course where I built a complete house from beginning to finish. I know and understand what it is like working on site, but I decided designing was a better route for me and my future. My skills in AutoCad® and Revit® have been shaped very thoroughly to create residential and commercial buildings by attending Northwest Technical Institute. I have gained good customer service and communication skills through my previous job experiences.

After working in the manufacturing world for 4 years, I realized that pursuing a career in product design was something I wanted. Within the first month of attending NTI, I was hired as a Drafting Intern at The Toro Company. I was able to apply the skills I learned in class and the new skills I was learning at Toro to complete tasks in a timely fashion, with few mistakes. It was through this internship that I knew this was the right career path for me. I believe that my background in manufacturing and my internship at Toro will be a great asset to any company. I have experience in using SolidWorks and Pro-Engineer. I am excited and ready to begin my career in the product design world.
| Mark Caputo | markjcaputo@yahoo.com | (763) 267-3888 |
While attending NTI, I had the opportunity to work as an intern performing tasks such as engineering improvement to increase product flow through the factory, creating initial designs for new products, maintaining working drawings and their revisions, and reverse engineering of purchased components.
I am proficient in SolidWorks, Pro-E, and have expanded my experience in bending and welding sheet metal.
I am open to working in a variety of industries but intend to obtain a mechanical engineering degree. I look forward to earning a position that makes use of my mechanical aptitude and design skills, hopefully in the Automotive Industry.

My passion is to design products that promote a better lifestyle by making life simpler for everyone. I am open to any new ideas and technologies. I have a hunger for learning and am determined to succeed.
As a young child, I always took things apart and tried to figure out how they worked. I still do and I always learn something. No matter if the outcome is good or bad, I learn something new. This process and desire to gain new knowledge is what led me to the career path I have chosen.
I am proficient in SolidWorks and Pro-E; have experience working with Teamcenter data management systems; and understand the capabilities of various machines and manufacturing processes. I am an effctive communicator who enjoys the team environment, as well as someone who enjoys the math and physics associated with design. My ability to learn quickly, desire to learn, and urge to pursue success will help me fit into a company that wants to grow.

I was born & raised in Waseca, MN. As a small town kid, it took a lot of courage to go to a college so far away from home. NTI came to my school and gave a presentation that made me decide that this is what I want to do the rest of my life. I knew I wanted to be a mechanical design drafter. I have learned so much in SolidWorkds and ProE from this school. I like to take things apart to see what makes it works. I would love to stay around the Waseca area to work after graduation. In the future, I see myself as a designer that take initiative and leads projects.
| Cody Corkran | ccorkran@gmail.com | (763) 744-6918 |
My interest in product design came from being alongside my dad while he worked on many different projects in the garage. I enjoy learning new things or different ways to get a task accomplished. Once I graduate from NTI, it would be a great honor to get a full time job in the field of drafting and design. I have a good mechanical ability and want to start applying my skills and education in my new career in the industry.
| Tyler S. Ferrell | t.ferrell@live.com | (952) 649-1288 |
I went to NTI because I have always had a passion for designing and making things better. During high school, I worked with the software Inventor®, and that’s what got me interested in 3D designing. In the future, I see myself working with new product design and/or rapid prototypes. I am a hands-on individual. If I hit a problem, I don’t stop till its resolved. I have industry experience from my two internships using AutoCAD®, Pro-ENGINEER, and TeamCenter PDM. A future job that requires travel wouldn’t be a problem. I n my free time, I care for my family’s horses and snowmobile in the winter.
| Joshua Fink | 10finkj@gmail.com | (952) 334-2516 |
Growing up, I have always been interested in taking things apart and seeing how they worked. NTI has helped me learn how to improve the things I take apart. I like to push myself; I always find a new challenge to conquer. I would like to find a job around the Chaska, MN area. Some of my skills include:
| SolidWorks Pro-Engineer Wildfire |
AutoDesk® Inventor® Certified SolidWorks Associate Certificate |
| Paul Fransen | frankbank.net@gmail.com | (763) 639-9695 |
I am anxiously anticipating graduation and look forward to further applying the design skills I have learned at NTI. I’ve always tried to come up with ways of doing things faster, more precisely, and better in general. I love coming up with new ideas and adding to existing ones. I have enjoyed my internship and look forward to working full time in the industry. If you ever need an intelligent, problem-solving, people-person; please drop me a line (I’m a great catch).

I have spent most of my life working in the manufacturing, automotive and sales industries. After relocating to Minneapolis 2 years ago for my wife’s career, I was given the opportunity to return to school to do something I enjoyed. Engineering has always been a passion and interest of mine. After seeing machinery, engines, and different mechanical assemblies working in the real world, I’m excited to have the opportunity to enter into an industry that involves designing them. As a non-traditional student in my 30’s, and graduating from NTI, I now have the knowledge and skills needed to start my career in the engineering field.

I have a great mechanical aptitude. My 3 years working in manufacturing is what interested me in product design – along with my curiosity of how things work. I enjoy learning and expanding my knowledge. As a hands-on person, I am willing to learn new skills and further what I already know. I am proficient with SolidWorks and Pro-Engineer. I am well organized, determined, and strive for the best. My goal is to gain experience in industry and find a career in either Western Wisconsin or the Metro Area. My experience is in the following:
| SolidWorks 3 years Manufacturing Experience |
Pro-Engineer MS Office |
| Mychale Hinners | hinners.mychale@gmail.com | (952) 334-2516 |
I took an elective, drafting, my junior year in high school only to find my future career. I loved it. I became more interested after taking a class in manufacturing and robotics. Being a creative individual, I decided to attend NTI to expand my education in the design world.
I am a very motivated individual looking for an adventure. I consider myself an outdoorsman and take interest in anything outside: hunting, fishing, and hiking. I have really enjoyed my drafting and design education at NTI. I am looking forward to working in the industry.
| Michael A. Larson | kineticorange@ymail.com | (612) 270-4474 |
I like to design and build anything, from furniture and sculptures, to mechanical devices and machines. I came to NTI to compliment my other skills. I was a mechanic in the US Navy, I worked in a sculptural bronze casting facility, and I fabricated large stainless steel wine fermentation vessels and industrial product size reducers.
I hold a BFA with emphasis in sculpture and currently maintain an art studio near my home. I would like to start my new career in the metro area.

I work as a Project Engineer for Preco Inc., a design/build company specializing in the integration of lasers into material processing applications. Before this, I worked extensively in the packaging industry, installing and repairing packaging systems and delta robots, as well as training customers and performing site management for large installations.
My work has always involved interaction with mechanical engineers and designers, providing feedback on how to make changes to parts and assemblies to “get things to work.” After seeing the design tools that were available, I knew I wanted to add this skill to my field experience and perhaps make a career transition.
Another driving force in learning design was my work involving 6-axis robots. Simulation software allows for building virtual work cells and testing the robot application in a virtual environment before ever making a part. Being able to model the robotics cell and perform simulations has greatly enhanced my ability to communicate the overall design.
I look forward to designing and delivering great products for people to use.

I decided to attend NTI to pursue a career in the mechanical design field. My love for critical thinking and being creative makes every day I work in the field enjoyable. I am currently employed at Twin City Die castings as a Die Casting Design Engineer. In five years, I would love to see myself as an engineering manager or project manager. I am a born leader, and enjoy managing people and work flow. Thank you for reading my paragraph.
