If you are a veteran of the arms services, you may qualify for Veteran’s Education Benefits. NTI’s programs are approved for eligible veterans, as well as eligible dependents of deceased or disabled veterans. There are several steps that you must complete before you can receive veterans benefits. For more specific information, visit the Veterans’ Administration web site. You will also be able to download forms at their web site.

The first step is to actually apply to receive your benefits. You need to complete the Application for VA Education Benefits (form 22-1990) or the Application for Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance (form 22-5490). If you are transferring from another school at which you received VA benefits, you will need to complete a Request for Change of Program or Place of Training (form 22-1995). You will then need to send the completed application to:

Please keep in mind, it can take up to 60 days or more for the application to be processed. If you have a service related disability and are able to receive veterans rehabilitation benefits, you also must apply for and be certified as eligible to receive these benefits by the VA. Until a signed rehabilitation plan is completed and signed by your counselor and case manager, you are not considered a Chapter 31 participant. Please be aware, this process can be a long drawn out affair, so leave plenty of time.

Once you are enrolled at NTI, the financial aid office will certify your enrollment status by filling out the Enrollment Certification (form 22-1999). Once enrollment certification has been completed and classes have begun, you will receive a notice from the VA and will need to begin monthly certifications. These certifications can be done via the web or by phone. Upon graduation, NTI will then fill out the Notice of Change in Student Status (form 22-1999b) and send that to the VA.
